News highlight
OpenAI unveiled its new real-time API for low-latency AI voice responses and expanded GPT-4o's capabilities with vision fine-tuning and prompt caching.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has announced several updates to its AI tools and services for developers. These include a speech-to-speech feature, prompt caching, and vision fine-tuning. In public beta, the Realtime API enables developers to build low-latency, multimodal experiences using preset voices, reducing the complexity of voice-based applications. OpenAI's Chat Completions API now supports audio input and output, making it suitable for educational apps and customer support tools. Vision fine-tuning on the GPT-4o model allows developers to train the model using both text and images, achieving better contextual understanding and more accurate results. Prompt caching is also introduced to improve the efficiency of repeated queries, reducing the time needed for the model to process repeated requests. These features are expected to be gradually rolled out and available through the OpenAI API dashboard.
