News Highlight
Microsoft has launched new AI APIs for Edge, its web browser, at Build 2025, allowing developers to incorporate AI functionality. These APIs mirror some of Google Chrome's built-in AI capabilities, allowing developers to power their web applications. Edge's new APIs provide access to Phi 4 mini, an AI model with 3.8 billion parameters, which excels at math problems. Microsoft plans to launch a translator API for AI-powered language translations via Edge. These experimental APIs are intended as potential web standards and offer privacy and security for developers dealing with sensitive data or regulated industries. Microsoft also introduced Azure updates, including a real-time AI-powered Voice Live API and document indexing in Cosmos DB. Google showcased new AI-driven developer tools and APIs at Google I/O, including a UI design generating service Stitch, and the Jules coding agent for GitHub. New CSS primitives, Chrome DevTools AI integrations, Firebase updates, and Gemini-powered Colab AI enhancements were also highlighted among other advancements.
Google's AI model, Gemini, completed Pokemon Blue, collecting all badges, a feat not yet achieved by rival AI Claude. CEO Sundar Pichai dubbed this "API" and gave credit to Joel Z for his non-affiliated, live-streamed assistance during the playthrough.
Operant AI has released Woodpecker, an open-source red teaming tool for enhancing security across AI systems and cloud-native applications. Woodpecker aims to democratize advanced security testing and covers >50% of OWASP top 10 threats, integrating into existing workflows for continuous AI development testing.
